hi
sorry, this is Single8 stuff!
i need to use my P1 on a mountain jaunt, because it is light and portable. the motor works fine but the light meter is inert. am i using the wrong batteries (2x 1.35v). i'm pretty sure the modern equivalent for this camera is the single, chunky A14PX 3volt?
if it's not the battery - and the meter's done a runner, what can i / someone do to repair it, please?
thanks

Not sure if i can project Regular 8 though ...

Spectra Film and Video sells the correct batteries I believe for your camera. Nizo makes a compact camera, I think it is the Nizo 136??? and the Nizo 148???

Thanks
do you think there's a chance the P1 light meter might still be ok - i have read of light cells giving out?
"Nizo makes a compact camera, I think it is the Nizo 136??? and the Nizo 148???"
trouble is, those beautiful lenses are going to add pounds to my rucksack, just when i won't need it, half way up a mountain! :-o

taken a gamble - belt'n'braces - and gone for a EUMIG EUMIGETTE 2 [Super8], which looks very light weight and portable: fingers crossed now for the light meter :-o
Eumig have quite a good reputation?

I like Eumig but there final series of cameras seemed to need lubrication quite often.
Those two nizo's I spoke of weren't that heavy, but maybe I'm wrong. I think "the list" lists the weight of over a thousand super-8 cameras.
I think I have a link posted to "the list" up above.

Hi Alex,
the only two models which approximate to those under discussion on "the List", which are given with weight, are -
Nizo
148 Macro
Year: 77-82
Weight: 800 g
Eumig
Mini
Year: 70-72
Weight: 490 g
i am hoping also this is a plasticy Eumig, which will cut down on the weight - i think the Nizo's are mostly metal / aluminium?
thanks,
R

<u>'Fuji' update - to Eumig ...</u>
the Eumig is a metal+plastic mix but, apart from the p-1, it is the lightest cin? i have come across
what it lacks in lightness is made up for in robustness: this camera would take a lot of thrills and spills without suffering
the light meter works perfectly and - much to my surprise - is powered by the same battery source as the motor: why couldn't all 8mm cameras do this: it would make life so much simpler!
am awaiting manual, just to check everything else out ...
this is a very basic camera with a fixed focus and microscopic TTL viewer (drawback), but it is solid and i hope ideal for difficult situations where you need to point'n'shoot in a hurry?
of course, the acid test will be footage ...
